It is true that a dummy CCTV camera can provide security for a person whether it is your house or business that you are trying to make secure. But it is not advised to rely too much on them when it comes to providing yourself with security. One should not think too far in saving money when it comes to security especially if one lives in what police might call a high risk area. If it is possible then a mix of real and dummy cameras should be installed. But on the other hand at many places a dummy camera will do.
In most situations if a potential burglar sees a dummy CCTV camera he will not know the difference and leave the place. Of course fake cameras also will not have the hassle of a real camera system such as recording and keeping track of tapes and so on. But just keep in mind that it is not as simple as that and one should keep in mind certain things when choosing a dummy CCTV camera system. Firstly don’t buy one that looks obviously fake, it may be tempting to buy a cheap one but if it doesn’t look realistic and looks like a toy, the chances of it deterring burglars will be slim. You can get fake cameras that are housed in real looking cases complete with a small flashing light that could fool even a professional criminal.
A good quality dummy security camera will have a false cable connected to it and also be fitted by the supplier into a conduit, completing the authentic look of the dummy camera system. If you already have a real CCTV camera in place and you want to put a dummy camera system with it, then try and make sure that it matches to what is already there. Another thing to keep in mind is that in many places it is required by law to have a warning label that can be seen by people that warns of the presence of CCTV cameras. So if one puts up dummy cameras in place then a warning sign should be also put up. When you do, that should be enough to deter any would be perpetrator. Just don’t put a sign that reads” warning dummy CCTV cameras are watching you” - then the joke may turn out to be on you.

If you are like many hard working Americans, then home security is an important part of your home, to protect the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and your property. There are many different options when it comes to home security systems. One of the more popular system setups is the CCTV security camera, or Closed Circuit Television.A CCTV system compiles of one or more hidden security camera’s placed at strategic points around your property. Placement examples would be above any entrances, porches, and light posts in your driveway. They are usually best placed in conjunction with well lit areas. They are sometimes installed in conjunction with motion security lights and posted signs. These camera’s can transmit live images and video straight to a television set for live view, or a DVR for recording and playback. Installation can be hard wired or a wireless system. Depending on the brand, number of cameras, style, and installation, the investment may be steep for some.
While not everyone is not on the same budget, there are solutions that are offered. Those solutions are dummy CCTV cameras that are available. The dummy camera’s come in all shapes and sizes, and appears to function just like their more expensive counterparts. While these camera’s do not monitor and record live pictures or video, the dummy camera shares one of the most, if not the most, important factors of any visible security system. Intimidation. It might not be real, but it can be very powerful.
For instance, a dome dummy camera does not have any exposed wires, has no blinking lights, and does not track, or appear to move. If an unknown intruder comes around looking for trouble on your property, they will not be able to tell the difference between it being a real CCTV camera, or a dummy camera. Placing that doubt in their mind, just may be what it takes to make them think twice about damaging your personal property.
If you are considering adding or upgrading the security to your home, there are many different genuine CCTV security camera’s and dummy security cameras available. While no security system can be 100% effective, due to the affordability and ease of installation of the dummy camera, it just may be what you are looking for to effectively add more security to your home.

Dummy security cameras are a very popular alternative to real operational cameras. They come in many styles, such as domes, bullets, spy cams, and more just as real cameras do and have features such as blinking LED lights to simulate a real camera recording. For those on a tight budget, dummy security cameras are an inexpensive alternative to real security cameras. Dummy security cameras can be just as effective at deterring crime as real cameras. Just as with real cameras, a criminal may be deterred if they see a camera, whether it be real or fake, if they think they are being watched by a surveillance system. Therefore, dummy security camera location is very important.
The key to using dummy cameras is placement. Hiding a dummy camera will not be very effective and should be installed in obvious locations. Many people use warning signs in conjunction with dummy cameras to assist in making them appear as real as possible. There are however drawbacks to using dummy security cameras. If something does happen, there will be no footage or recording of the action that can be reviewed or used as evidence to solve the problem. Using dummy cameras to prevent petty crimes is great, but should something more serious happen such as inventory disappearing in your warehouse, or all the computers stolen in your office,
you are going to want video footage of the act.In most cases the best solution is to use a mixture of real security cameras and dummy security cameras. Install dummy cameras in highly visible locations where people will know they are under surveillance. Then install one or two real security cameras in the same location that will actually record all activity and nobody will ever know the difference. Using this method will save you a lot of money both up front and in the long run and accomplish the same goal.
Anytime you have a reason to use security cameras, there is obviously something to protect. Be smart and protect your investments. Having a security plan in place is a very important part in protecting your investment and dummy security cameras should be a part of that plan. They will help provide you with peace of mind and the cost of dummy cameras can be worked into any budget. Already have a cctv security camera system in place? Why not add a few dummy security cameras to it. A very simple cost effective way to help prevent crime.
